California unemployment fell to 4.7% in May

There's some more good news for California's economy. The state unemployment rate has fallen to 4.7% in May, down from 4.8% a month before.

The new number ties the record low that occurred more than 16 years ago in November and December of 2000.

Last year, the state unemployment rate was 5.5%. Government jobs led eight of California's eleven industry sectors last month.

Just three types of jobs experienced a decline. Those in the leisure and hospitality industry suffered the largest decrease, followed by professional and business services.
