Laguna Beach woman embezzled $1.5 million, spent money on plastic surgery and cattle

A Laguna Beach woman named Elizabeth “Lizzie”  Mulder is expected to plead guilty before a judge in a Santa Ana U.S. Federal Court for embezzling 1.5 million dollars from five Orange County businesses.

Police say the 34-year-old mother used the money for plastic surgery and to renovate a Laguna Beach home. She also purchased horse equipment and cattle.

A federal court document says Mulder is charged with multiple federal offenses tied to identity theft, tax fraud and embezzlement.

A police statement says Mulder signed a plea settlement with the U.S. Attorney's Office to get a reduced sentence. Mulder is scheduled for sentencing on August 1 and could get up to 23 years in prison.
