Cocaine Found in Child's Toy at a Taco Shop

A Bell Gardens mother and son received a little something extra when they bought a toy from a gumball-type machine at a taco shop.

Bell Gardens Detective Miguel Torres says the toy, a putty ball in a plastic container, contained cocaine.

"While her son was playing with the putty ball toy, it ruptured and a white powdery substance came out."

The Bell Gardens police department says 18 balloon like toys were found in the machine, all containing cocaine.

The 136 grams of powder was tested and proved positive for cocaine.

The entire stock was valued at almost $10,000 and removed from the premises.

Torres says the vending machine was linked to a company called Snack Time Vending.

"If any local businesses are using this company's toy/candy vending machines, please contact us immediately and remove them from public access.''
