The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors said this week it had selected the next Coroner -- but the name of the person was withheld while an employment contract is finalized.
"The vote of the Board was unanimous," according to a statement released after the meeting.
The new person selected will fill the job vacated in April, 2016, when Dr. Mark Fajardo resigned.
He complained the office was understaffed, underfunded, and in disarray -- with a backlog of dozens of dead bodies awaiting autopsies and forensics work.
