Filed under the "Always check your work" files, a Newport Beach neighborhood was flooded on Wednesday night after a seawall was mistakenly damaged according to residents and officials.
Homes in and around the 500 block of 36th Street on Balboa Peninsula were flooded, with water becoming knee-deep at times.
Some homes and vehicles were reported damaged by residents.
A contractor was apparently doing demolition work at a house site and mistakenly took out part of a seawall that protected the neighborhood from the ocean.
Flooding began when the tide came in.
