New passenger screening procedures for carry-on bags being tested in some security lines at L-A-X may be expanded to other airports in the fall.
The T-S-A said this week lines using the modified rules, that require passengers to remove most of their small electronics from carry-on bags, appear to have been moving more quickly.
Spokesman Nico Melendez said L-A-X was one of ten airports to test the procedure.
“It’s an attempt for us have passengers help us de-clutter their bags so it makes it easier for our officers to do their jobs and see what’s in the bags,” he said.
The new procedures were aimed at improving efficiency and not because of a threat. The rules for what’s allowed to be carried on to planes have not changed.
