Authorities identify 15-year-old killed after car swerves off roadway in Lancaster.

Authorities have identified a 15-year-old boy who was fatally struck by a vehicle after the driver had swerved to avoid crashing into a pair of stopped vehicles in Lancaster. 

Lt. Dan Nagelmann of the Lancaster Sheriff's station said the two vehicles had stopped to allow the rest of the boy's family to cross Avenue L in Lancaster when the driver swerved to avoid the vehicles. 

Adrian Smith of Lancaster died at a hospital from his injuries according to the coroner's office. 

Smith was standing next to a fence when he was struck by the vehicle. The vehicle was rear-ended and that then went around and struck the teenager according to ABC7. The driver suffered moderate injuries after the vehicle hit an embankment, rolled over a few times until finally slamming into a brick wall. 

The boy, and the driver were taken to area hospitals where the boy was pronounced dead. 

No other injuries were reported. 

Police are investigating whether or not alcohol was a factor in the crash according to Nagelmann.
