Today we talked with Assemblywoman Melissa Melendez (R-Lake Elsinore) about the lie that is the gas and car tax.
Not all of the money from SB 1 will go to fixing the roads. Democrats are trying to divert the money to projects that have nothing to do with roads, how gross is that?! But we knew this would happen, that's why it's so important to stop this thing.
Melendez released the following statement:
“This budget is a perfect Democrat con job. After forcing a multi-billion dollar, potentially illegal, tax increase on all Californians, with the promise of better roads, Governor Brown and his fellow Democrats are already diverting funding to their own pet projects. In this budget proposal, they are diverting 30 percent of funding from the gas tax to non-road related projects like building parks and job training for felons. That’s money from the very gas tax the Democrats promised would go solely to fixing our decrepit roads and providing relief for traffic congestion. I hope all Californians will take action and start demanding accountability with their tax dollars from the Democrats who run this state.”
