Police are looking for a suspected gunman after a 77-year-old man was shot and wounded by a suspect who was spotted fleeing in a white Maserati with tinted windows and black rims.
The victim was rushed to a hospital for surgery, but his condition was not immediately known. The shooting happened Wednesday night around 8:20 near Hyde Park, an area south of downtown Los Angeles. The shooting happened in front of the Van Ness recreation Center located at 57th, and 2nd avenue.
The man was shot several times in the chest, according to LAPD officials. While investigators have not released a motive for the shooting, they do not believe he was the target.
Investigators did not get a description of the gunman or gunmen responsible, but they are searching for a white Maserati with tinted windows and black rims that the gunman used to flee the scene.
