If Governor Jerry Brown passes Kevin De León's SB 54, a bill that would make California a sanctuary state, we're going to be in even bigger trouble than we're in now.
AB 109, Prop 47, Prop 57, and SB 54 are dangerous for everyone living in this state, why are our leaders so determined to fight for such evil causes?!
Brown wasn't always in favor of sanctuary states, in 2010 he told the San Francisco Chronicle:
“I don’t support sanctuary cities. … Just opening up the cities and saying our borders don’t mean anything, as the state’s chief law enforcement officer, I’m not going there.”
That was just 7 years ago during the Obama administration. So what happened? Did he change his mind just to go along with the anti-Trumpers?
In 2012 he vetoed the first version of the California Trust Act, although he said he agreed with the bill's intent to protect illegal aliens with minor offenses:
“Under the bill, local officers would be prohibited from complying with an immigration detainer unless the person arrested was charged with, or has been previously convicted of, a serious or violent felony. Unfortunately, the list of offenses codified in the bill is fatally flawed because it omits many serious crimes. I believe it’s unwise to interfere with a sheriff’s discretion to comply with a detainer issued for people with these kinds of troubling criminal records.”
Kevin Johnson, dean of the UC Davis School of Law, told Mercury News:
“He does appear to have an aversion to any declaration of sanctuary, but at the same time he is clear that he thinks state and local law enforcement should not be the puppet of federal law enforcement authorities."
Lord help us if Gavin Newsom becomes Governor. Listen to what that slime ball actually said:
"We know that sanctuary counties and cities are safer than non-sanctuary locations. These policies advance safety by building trust between communities and the police.”
