A Garden Grove man from India has been detained by ICE after it was revealed he is in the country illegally.
Gurmit Singh's older daughter says her father was at the federal building in Orange County today to ask officials to allow him to continue his green card application when he was detained. She says this is the second time she's seen immigration officials take her dad into custody.
"It's probably one of the worst nightmares, watching my dad cry, as he is your hero," she told Jo Kwon.
Singh has been detained before. During a 2012 hearing for a green card via his wife (who is a US citizen). His lawyers say Singh was unaware that his previous application for asylum submitted in 1999 had been denied.
