An activist with the group Black Lives Matter said Monday he'll file a lawsuit against the LAPD and its civilian police commission - over what he says was an unjust arrest during a commission meeting last year.

Greg Akili, who's demonstrated during many commission meetings, says he was falsely accused of grabbing an officer in a, "bear hug," and says the City's own video recording of the meeting showed otherwise.

Akili says the criminal case against him was dismissed after a jury deadlocked in January on a charge of battery on a police officer.

The lawsuit alleges false arrest and civil rights violations.
