Los Angeles County Prosecutors have served a search warrant for the home and office of the mayor of Palmdale CBS reports.
Six search warrants were served at six different locations, but authorities did not reveal what their investigation is focusing on.
Palmdale Councilman Austin Bishop says Mayor Jim Ledford's home and office were searched by authorities for several hours. A city spokesperson said the mayor's office is cooperating with the county's investigation.
The mayor was scheduled to appear at two different public events on Wednesday, but did not show up at either one.
The 63-year-old Ledford has served 25 years as mayor for the city of Palmdale. The city does not have term limits, which has allowed the mayor to serve continuously for 13 terms.
