Chino Hills Homeowner Holds Burglars at Gunpoint

A man in Chino Hills held a group of attempted burglars at gunpoint while home with his wife and children.

Yan Zhang found four men between the ages of 18 and 20, and one juvenile, enter his property via a balcony off of their backyard.

San Bernardino sheriff's officials say when the suspects tried to enter the home, that's when Zhang confronted them.

Neighbor Tony Tran described the scene.

"(Zhang) got a gun so he fired a warning shot and was able to apprehend them until the police showed up.”

Deputies say Zhang held them until his wife made sure the children were safe and a neighbor was able to call 911.

Two of the suspects were able to get away, but other neighbors were able to help find them.

Eighteen year-old Roberto Alonso Salmon, nineteen year-old Garret Rogers, nineteen year-old Ruben Medivil, twenty year-old Joaquin Leonardo Salmon Garcia and a 17-year-old boy were all arrested on suspicion of attempted burglary.
