An Oregon man was arrested for trying to shove a coworker head first into a running wood chipper because he believed he was a pedophile.

Scott Iverson was arrested in Salem for attempted murder and assault.

The victim said Iverson walked up behind him as he was putting brush into the wood chipper. Iverson then put the victim into a headlock and tried to throw him in and grind him up.

Police told the Oregonian:

"The victim told investigators he feared for his life and thought he was going to die when the incident occurred.”

The man was able to get free from Iverson's clutches but then he started socking him in the head.

The 22-year-old victim said:

"I really don't want to die this way.”

Iverson told another coworker who broke up the fight:

"He's a pedophile. I can tell by the way he's talking.”

A background check of the victim didn't turn up any history of sex abuse or assault. He survived the encounter, but took a cut to the jaw and suffered neck injuries.

This is the second Oregon wood chipper story we've reported on in about a month. What's going on up there?
