Orange County Health Care Agency)

Consumption of tea made with deer antlers has been linked to one confirmed case of botulism in Orange County.

In addition to the confirmed case, there is another suspected case linked to the antler tea.

Health officials say the tea was acquired in March, and added that anyone else who has the tea or a similar product should get rid of it immediately.

Botulism is a rare but serious illness caused by a nerve toxin. Symptoms include:

  • Double vision
  • Blurred vision
  • Drooping eyelids
  • Slurred speech
  • Difficulty swallowing
  • Weakness

So if you've got this tea, chuck it in the trash now!
