May Day Marches in L.A.

Hundreds of groups in conjunction with The May Day Coalition of Los Angeles are marching on city hall.

100,000 marchers are expected at the event. Police expect large crowds downtown and are encouraging marchers to be peaceful.

May 1st has been known as a day of protest for the labor movement and in recent years has also come to represent a day of protest for immigrant rights.

Executive director of the Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights of Los Angeles says the marches will be directed at the President.

“The message we want to send him is that we are united.”

The march will start from MacArthur Park and end at city hall.
