This week’s episode features Susan Ungaro. Susan Ungaro recently celebrated 10 years as the president of the James Beard Foundation (JBF) which is responsible (among other things) for the prestigious James Beard Awards highlighting outstanding chefs. The oldest of 6 children, Ungaro was the first in her family to graduate high school and college and prior to joining JBF she served as editor-in-chief of “Family Circle” magazine for 12 years. She spent the first 6 years at JBF digging the foundation out of debt and has since expanded the organizations national and global reach through scholarship programs, membership and thought-leadership initiatives. She has been named one of Adweek’s 30 Most Influential People in Food and on this episode she talks about how she got there; overcoming the odds and challenges, solving problems and her advice on making your mark in the culinary world.
