Ted Cruz says El Chapo should pay for the wall

Trump keeps saying that Mexico will pay for the wall, but that could happen a number of different ways. Ted Cruz says it could be done by having notorious drug lord El Chapo pay for it.

Today Cruz went on "Fox& Friends" to explain the El Chapo Act. He said that federal prosecutors are looking at getting back $14 billion in drug profits from El Chapo, who is currently awaiting trial after being sent back to Mexico in January.

Cruz said:

"Fourteen billion dollars will go a long way toward building a wall that will keep Americans safe and hinder the illegal flow of drugs, weapons, and individuals across our southern border."

He also said that El Chapo is an acronym, meaning "Ensuring Lawful Collection of Hidden Assets to Provide Order."

Talk about reverse engineering, that's a mouthful of an acronym. Why can't it just be named after El Chapo?

President Trump is adamant that the wall will be built during his first term, even though there's still not a funding plan.

Using money from a violent drug lord? That sounds like a great way to fund the wall!
