54-year-old Takashi Yamanouchi from Japan was arrested after police discovered he had been living above a public bathroom for 3 years.

It was a pretty spacious area, 990 square feet! He said he moved in after another squatter had moved out.

The man lived right above a toilet, but apparently he never used it because his quarters were found filled with hundreds of plastic containers with urine. The room was "neat and tidy" with an electric heater and a gas stove.

Yamanouchi was arrested for trespassing. Police ordered a search of crawl spaces above toilets in all the city parks, but so far no other toilet dwellers have been found.
