A shooting occurred on the Champ-Elysees in Paris on Thursday night. One police officer has been killed, leaving another officer injured along with another "unidentified man" who was hit in the "crossfire."
The attacker has been "taken down," according to reports.
The area has been completely cleared and shut down by police.
The French police sent out a tweet as the story continues to develop, stating, “Police intervention underway in the area of the #ChampElysees avoid the sector and follow the instructions of the police forces.”
In light of the upcoming French elections, tensions already has arisen and the city of Paris was on heightened security and alert.
