A blogger from Minnesota reveals the secrets to making the perfect baked potato.
Tonia Larson of The Gunny Sack unveils the vital steps and tricks to make a potato full of utter perfection.
The name of Larson’s recipe is called ‘The Bloomin’ Potato.’
The reason behind the name of her recipe is because it looks like a ‘blooming flower.’
The first steps to make a perfect baked potato is to first cut the top off of the potato so one side is flat and then cut rings on the inside.
After those initial steps, flip the potato over onto the flat side and make vertical cuts on the side but still leave a small space at the top completely uncut. This process does take some patience to complete.
Flip the potato back over so that the flat surface is facing upward. The final result should look like ‘rings on a tree trunk.’
When cutting the potato that way, the skin becomes crispy but the inside of the potato will stay very ‘creamy and soft.’
The next step is to slather olive oil onto the potato followed by a sprinkling of sea salt. Then bake the potato at 425 degrees for 30 minutes. Afterwards, repeat the previous step by brushing olive oil and sprinkle more salt and bake for an additional 30 minutes.
Grated cheeses and other toppings like bacon bits can be added to the potato.
Although the entire cooking process takes up to an hour and 20 minutes, the result is indeed a perfect potato.
