Power tools are wonderful, but nothing will discourage one's journey into DIY more than getting bad tool advice, buying the wrong tool, or not being adept enough to use one effectively.
It's a good idea to ease into using power tools because there's a definitely learning curve.
For the budding DIY tool addict here are the first five (in order) I'd recommend getting your hands on:
- Cordless drill/driver
- Orbital palm sander
- Jig saw
- Rotary tool
- Miter saw
