LOS ANGELES (AP) — Police say a 15-year-old boy was killed and two other teens were critically wounded in a shooting near schools in South Los Angeles.
Officer Mike Lopez says gunshots were reported around 4 p.m. Tuesday at a strip mall in the same area as two elementary schools and a middle school.
Lopez says responding officers found two boys and a girl with gunshot wounds. All three were taken in critical condition to a hospital, where one of the boys died.
The Los Angeles Times reports the condition of the surviving victims stabilized later in the day.
Investigators didn't name a possible motive but said the suspect is believed to be a black male wearing jeans and a hooded sweatshirt.
