Hesperia woman gets out of jail, immediately carjacks someone, gets arrested again

(Monique Cadena: Rancho Cucamonga Police Department)

Here's a bright young lady for you.  24-year-old Monique Cadena was arrested yesterday at 10:30 am by Victorville Police for allegedly being under the influence of a controlled substance.

She was booked into the West Valley Detention Center in Rancho Cucamonga, and was released from the detention center at 5:10 pm.

She approached a number of people asking them for a ride, but nobody wanted to do anything with her.

So, around 6:30 pm she got into a white Hyundai Sonata that had been left running at the curb near the jail's visitor area.

Inside the car was an old woman, who was waiting for a family member to return.  But Cadena didn't care one bit, and she drove off with the old lady inside.

Police say the elderly lady screamed for help as Cadena drove away.

Cadena ended up ditching her at a gas station about 3 miles away from the detention center, and she made it back unharmed.

Monique Cadena was eventually found around 10:00 pm and was arrested for a second time on suspicion of carjacking and kidnapping.

Smart lady.
