BANNING, Calif. (AP) — Authorities say two students at a Southern California high school have been arrested on suspicion of plotting to carry out a campus shooting.
The Los Angeles Times reports police were notified Monday afternoon of theplot at Banning High in Banning, about 80 miles east of Los Angeles.
Officials say witnesses overheard an unnamed student making threats to open fire Tuesday.
Investigators recovered evidence that allegedly shows two students had planned what police are calling "an active shooter-type incident."
The specifics of the alleged plot were not disclosed. No weapons were found.
The students, both 15 years old, were arrested on suspicion of criminal threats and held at a juvenile hall. Their names were not released.
