Suit Filed Against Alleged Molester

A widow is filing a wrongful death suit against the Orange County and Los Angeles dioceses alleging that her husband's suicide was caused by sexual abuse he suffered at church.

The lawsuit says the man was allegedly molested by "notorious pedophile" Rev. Eleuterio Ramos from 1975-1978.

Attorney Raymond Boucher says the husband had fought depression for years before turning to suicide in 2015.

“Though he fought valiantly for years to overcome the sense of betrayal and mistrust, he ultimately succumbed to the depression and sense of worthlessness.”

Los Angeles Diocese officials say they have not yet received the lawsuit and the Diocese of Orange says they have settled similar cases concerning Ramos' alleged behavior.

“The Diocese of Orange continues to work to promote healing and reconciliation with past victims and their families and remains vigilant in ensuring the events of the past (are) not repeated."

Church documents released almost 12 years ago show a $100 million settlement between the Orange County Diocese and 90 alleged victims.

The documents also say Ramos allegedly admitted to molesting at least two dozen young boys.

In this wrongful death suit, allegations are made that church leaders knew of Ramos' past but still allowed him around the children unattended.
