Human skull found by crews battling Los Angeles brush fire

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Los Angeles coroner's investigators will search for more body parts at the scene of a small brush fire where crews discovered a human skull down a steep ravine in Sherman Oaks.

The skull was found Saturday by firefighters battling a four-acre blaze on a hillside behind a school.

Coroner's Lt. Larry Dietz says officials have yet to determine gender, age or time of death.

Crews using water-dropping helicopters doused the flames quickly. No injuries were reported.

Authorities remained on the scene Sunday to figure out how to properly investigate what may be a crime scene on a steep embankment.
