YouTube TV Challenges Cable Subscriptions

The company announced their new subscription-service “Youtube TV” on Tuesday. The on-demand subscription costs $35 a month for a plan that allows up to six people on the same account. Subscribers will have access to over 40 networks in addition to YouTube content that usually requires a separate subscription from the free content. All broadcast and cable networks are part of the plan, however, additional fees exist for Showtime and other specialty programming.

YouTube TV can be accessed on any device and also allows users to record content. Different types of content, such as NFL games, might be limited to desktop and TV devices. Right now, there are only plans for domestic subscriptions. The service is expected to roll out over the next few months. Hulu is also jumping on the bandwagon with their plans for a comparable subscription service due out later this year.
