Lavish Saudi King travels with 1,500 people and 500 tons of luggage

Saudi King King Salman bin Abdul Aziz al-Saud is making the rounds, visiting Malaysia, Indonesia, China, Japan, and the Maldives.

He's in Indonesia right now, where he'll go on a 9-day tour of the country.

According to reports, the King doesn't travel light.

He's got with him nearly 500 tons of luggage, which includes two free-standing electric elevators and two Mercedes-Benz S600s.

All of this luggage isn't just for him, though.  He's got his epic entourage of about 1,500 people with him, which is made up of:

  • 10 ministers
  • 800 delegates
  • 25 Princes

Can you imagine traveling like that, and having people scrambling to make sure your absurdly lavish trip goes correctly?

Just look at him descend from his jumbo jet on a golden escalator!

What a nut!  This guy's like Princess Vespa from Spaceballs.  You think he remembered to pack his industrial-strength hair dryer?
