LOS ANGELES (CNS) - A 15-year-old autistic boy who went missing in the Westmont area bordering South Los Angeles nearly a week ago turned up today and is OK.
Jaylan Milek Lewis, who has been diagnosed with autism but is considered “high-functioning,'' was last seen about 11 p.m. Thursday when he went to bed at his home in the 1500 block of West 111th Place, near Normandie Avenue, according to the Sheriff's Information Bureau.
His mother discovered he was missing the following morning, and authorities sought public help to find him.
Jaylan turned up at his grandmother's house Wednesday morning.
“I was thinking the worst, I was so scared,'' his father, Henry Lewis, told ABC7. “He said he was in a shelter. He told my mom he was in a shelter. Maybe the shelter must have seen it on the news, and told him you gotta go, I hope.
“I'm just happy now,'' he said. “I'm glad that they found him, he found his way back home.''
