ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) — Anaheim police say two juveniles were arrested after a brawl escalated and an off-duty Los Angeles Police Department officer fired a gun.
Sgt. Daron Wyatt says nobody was hit by the gunfire Tuesday afternoon during the brawl involving several male juveniles.
Wyatt says the off-duty officer admitted to discharging his firearm during an altercation with at least two individuals.
He says the preliminary investigation resulted in the arrest of two of the juveniles — one on suspicion of battery and making criminal threats and the other on suspicion of assault and battery.
Investigators would not discuss what precipitated the incident, why the off-duty officer opened fire or whether the officer was injured in the altercation.
The Orange County Register reports the off-duty LAPD officer is cooperating with the ongoing investigation.
