Getting a part in a Star Wars movie is a major accomplishment. Even the smallest of roles will be seen by millions of people. If you can get one of the bigger parts, you may well end up with a very successful career.
Sadly, there are still prejudices which prevent some performers from getting considered for parts. For example, the role of Chewbacca has traditionally been given to a human, even though Chewbacca is not even a human! THIS IS AN OUTRAGE! There are any number of species that can play a convincing Chewbacca.
