6 injured in wild Los Angeles police chase

LOS ANGELES (AP) — A wild police chase through Los Angeles has injured six people, one seriously.

A report of shots fired sent police chasing a white Mercedes on Wednesday.

Police say the car went into a parking garage and appeared to be heading toward an officer, who fired but didn't hit the driver.

The chase continued through downtown, onto a freeway and into South Los Angeles where the   Mercedes hit and toppled a car onto its side. The Mercedes then hit another car, which apparently pushed another vehicle into a street sign.

The driver was arrested at gunpoint.

About a dozen police officers rescued an injured woman from the overturned car.

The Fire Department says six people were hurt. Five went to hospitals — one in serious and the others in fair condition.
