Elon Musk has a long-term solution for LA traffic

In December 2016 Elon Musk tweeted about his frustration with Los Angeles traffic and that his solution was to build tunnels to alleviate the traffic. A lot of his followers figured he was simply venting and that nothing would come from this frustration.

However, Wednesday morning Musk tweeted that he plans to start digging tunnels in “a month or so”. He also responded to a follower that he would start the tunnel “Starting across from my desk at SpaceX. Crenshaw and the 105 Freeway, which is 5 mins from LAX”. This would be great for him but it also could create some easier commute options to LAX.

Tunnels as a traffic solution is not a new theory for Musk, he talked about them on Neil deGrasse Tyson's "StarTalk" radio show in March 2015

"If you were to extrapolate that to cars and have more car tunnels, then you would alleviate congestion completely. You would not need a flying car in that case, and it would always work, even if the weather is bad. It would never ice up, and it would never fall on your head."

What do you think of Elon Musk’s traffic solution?
