LOS ANGELES (CNS) - Heavy rain was causing dangerous conditions on Los Angeles-area roads and freeways Wednesday morning, with crashes and spin-outs shutting down portions of major traffic routes.
More than an inch of rain had fallen in some areas of Los Angeles County by 6:30 a.m. Wednesday and wrecks and lane closures were numerous, according to the California Highway Patrol.
A multiple-vehicle crash around 3:40 a.m. on the eastbound Foothill (210) Freeway in Tujunga shut down all lanes and the Sunland Boulevard off-ramp and a SigAlert was issued.
One lane was reopened about just before 6 a.m. No injuries were reported.
Not far from there, a crash involving a FedEx big rig about 3:45 a.m. closed all lanes of the northbound Golden State (5) Freeway south of the Ronald Reagan (118) Freeway and east of Sunland Boulevard, the CHP reports. A SigAlert was issued.
A downed tree blocked two right lanes of the eastbound Ventura (101) Freeway at DeSoto Avenue in the West San Fernando Valley beginning about 5:45, according to the CHP, which issued a SigAlert.
