LONG BEACH (CNS) - A man and a woman were in custody Friday for their alleged involvement in the killing of a Long Beach man who was gunned down in his home in February.

Jamie Jones, 36, was shot about 2:35 a.m. on Feb. 14 in the 2200 block of Chestnut Avenue, and he died at a hospital, according to the Long Beach Police Department.

On Thursday, detectives arrested Long Beach resident Damion Videl Castro, 44, in the Hollywood area, according to the LBPD.

Castro was booked on suspicion of murder, along with crimes including firearms and parole violations, and he was being held without bail, the LBPD reported.

"Detectives also arrested Danielle Mika Payne for accessory to murder," police said. Payne, 44, was being held on $50,000 bail, according to police and the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department. Her city of residence was not immediately known.

"Detectives believe Jones and Castro were roommates at the residence on Chestnut Avenue and (were) involved in an argument, which escalated into a shooting," police said.

The case will be presented to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office next week for filing consideration.

Anyone with information on the case was urged to call Detectives Sean Magee or Juan Carlos Reyes at 562-570-7244. Anonymous tips may be submitted through Crime Stoppers at 800-222-TIPS, or via the website www.lacrimestoppers.org.
