A New York firefighter who become one of the iconic figures of the city's response to 9/11 has died at the age of 91.
- Bob Beckwith was retired from FDNY, but still rushed to help search for survivors after the infamous attacks on the World Trade Center.
- Three days later, Beckwith stood alongside President George W. Bush during his visit to Ground Zero.
- The former president offered his condolences on Monday: "His courage represented the defiant, resilient spirit of New Yorkers and Americans after 9/11."
