Best Friends Animal Society's SUPER Adoption Event Returns to Los Angeles

After a 4-year hiatus, Best Friends Animal Society’s Super Adoption Event is returning to Los Angeles. Launched in 1999 at the LaBrea Tar Pits, the two-day event brings together pets from shelters, rescue groups, and Best Friends for a weekend of lifesaving.

The 2-day adoption extravaganza will be held on Saturday, November 4, and Sunday, November 5, at LA Historic State Park from 10 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

According to data from Best Friends Animal Society, a leading animal welfare organization working to end the killing of cats and dogs in America’s shelters by 2025, nearly 92,000 cats and dogs entered shelters all over LA County, with over 5,800 killed in 2022. At a time when shelters across Los Angeles are still currently at or over capacity, it's essential to adopt.

“The shelter crisis in Los Angeles is at a critical point, so there's no better time to re-start Super Adoption, which unites fellow animal welfare organizations across Los Angeles to help pets find loving homes,” said Brittany Thorn, Executive Director of Best Friends Animal Society.

Currently, 18 shelters and rescue groups have joined forces to help dogs and cats find loving homes, including Paws for Life K9 Rescue, City of Los Angeles Department of Animal Services, LA County Department of Animal Care and Control Mutt Hut Rescue, Inc., The Little Lion Foundation, Good Dog – Dog Talk Inc., The Paw Mission, No Stray Left Behind, Angel City Pit Bulls, The Cat Cove, Kitty Bungalow Charm School for Wayward Cats, Adopt Me Rescue, Homeless to Forever Foundation, Long Beach Animal Care Services, Pacific Pups Rescue, Caring Songs Rescue, Heaven on Earth Society for Animals and Stray Cat Alliance.

Adoptions typically include spay or neuter, vaccination, and microchip, which offers a very cost-effective way to bring home a pet.

“Whether you want a kitten, cat, puppy, or dog, there will be a perfect pet waiting to meet you at the Super Adoption,” Thorn said. “Adoption is one of the most impactful ways to save more lives, so you’ll be helping alleviate the shelter crisis while adding a wonder four-legged member to your family.”
