HOLLYWOOD (CNS) - Authorities sought the public's help Wednesday to find the hit-and-run motorist responsible for fatally injuring a pedestrian in Hollywood.
The man was injured about 1:25 a.m. Sept. 24 while crossing La Brea Avenue north of Sunset Boulevard, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. Loryn Cole, 33, believed to have been homeless, died at the scene, according to the Los Angeles Times.
According to police, the man was hit by a blue 2020-2023 Chevrolet Corvette that was heading south on La Brea Avenue, possibly in a race with another car.
"The driver of the Chevrolet Corvette fled the scene without identifying themselves and/or rendering aid to the victim," police said in a statement. "Speed possibly was a factor in this collision. It is unknown if alcohol and/or drugs were a factor."
A standing reward of up to $50,000 has been offered by the city of Los Angeles for information that helps solve a fatal hit and run.
