LOS ANGELES (CNS) - A baby was found abandoned Tuesday in the Larchmont area of Los Angeles, and police have released the name and a photo of the woman they believe to be the child's mother, authorities said.

The discovery was made about 2:50 a.m. in the 100 block of North Larchmont Boulevard, where a person found an unattended stroller, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Officers found an identification of the child's mother, Targie Alexandre, 25, inside of the stroller, according to police.

The child appeared to be in good health and was transported to a hospital for evaluation. The Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services was notified.

Officers located the child's father, but the whereabouts of Alexandre were still unknown.

The LAPD's Wilshire station urged anyone with any information regarding Alexandre's whereabouts to call them at 213-473-0476, or, during non- business hours or weekends, at 877-527-3247.
