BakeCamp LA is a series of grassroots community events that celebrate local bakers with the joy of great-tasting cookies. The three events (three consecutive weekends in October and venues across L.A.) will raise funds for L.A.-based Paw Works, which rescues abandoned dogs and cats from local kill shelters. Since it was founded in 2015, Paw Works has saved over 12,500 pets and placed them in caring homes. BakeCamp LA is produced by L.A.’s own BakeSpace.com, which launched in 2006 as the Web’s first food-themed social network.

Cookie Tasting + Cookie Contest: At BakeCamp LA, professional and amateur bakers will present their most cherished cookie creations for attendees to sample and judge. Guests will savor a wide range of cookies and cast their votes for their favorite bakers to determine who will win the coveted "LA's Favorite Baker" trophy.

Event Dates: BakeCamp is scheduled to celebrate National Cookie Month (October) in style with three fantastic events:

  • October 7th: The historic First Presbyterian Church in Hollywood (Gower and the 101)
  • October 14th: Pacific Palisades Woman's Club (near Sunset and Temescal Canyon)
  • October 22nd: Valley Relics Museum (off Balboa adjacent to Van Nuys Airport)

Why: Local bakers, great-tasting cookies, and adorable dogs and cats… ‘nuff said! BakeCamp is a unique opportunity for people across Los Angeles to come together, champion local bakers, and help save animals, one cookie at a time.

The Cookie Trend: Los Angeles is currently in the midst of a cookie renaissance, with new bakeries popping up. Cookies are heating up, and BakeCamp LA is here to celebrate the trend.

The BakeCamp Experience: Attendees will experience a delightful blend of mouth-watering cookies, adorable dogs, distinctive venues, and a strong sense of community. Adding to the sweetness, they’ll have a chance to interact with some of the animals they are helping rescue from local shelters.

Grand Prize Opportunity: Attendees will determine which amateur baker is the best at each local event, and then a panel of esteemed judges (including Neil) will select one grand prize winner for a “cookie collabo” with TheCravory.com, a nationally acclaimed cookie company that has its roots in Southern California. The winner will be mentored by TheCravory's cookie team for a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
