- We will talk with Dr. Ray Cascairi, Pulmonologist with St. Joseph in Orange. According to a new study, air pollution might be a significant factor in causing dementia.
- The study was published Monday (August 14) in the journal JAMA Network Open.
- This study found about 188,000 new cases of dementia each year and showed a strong link between developing dementia and living with bad air quality.
- Two major air quality factors that were determined were frequent exposure to wildfires and farming, particularly frequent exposure to manure and fertilizer, which releases a lot of ammonia gas.
