Joel covered a lot this week, so here's a quick outline of what you need to know to get yourself on your way to financial happiness:

Joel took a great question today asking about how to start on his financial independence. A great first step is to check out the Money Gears on the How to Money website. The gears lay out all the small steps it takes to become financially independent.

The topic of retirement has been on a lot of Americans' minds with 6 out of 10 Americans being more afraid of running out of money in retirement than they are of death. One thing that you need to keep in mind is that you are more than likely going to live longer than you think you will. So when it comes time to start thinking about retirement, you should ideally start taking out from Social Security at around 70. You should also consider working a bit longer. Retirement doesn't have to be all or nothing. You can take smaller jobs instead of just doing the job that you hate.
