LOS ANGELES (CNS) - A pedestrian was hit by a vehicle and killed Wednesday on the Santa Ana (5) Freeway near Downtown Los Angeles.
Officers were sent to the southbound freeway near Cesar Chavez Avenue at about 4:15 a.m., the California Highway Patrol reported.
Witnesses told officers the victim was walking in the No. 2 lane of the freeway when the collision occurred.
Paramedics pronounced the 28-year-old Moorpark man dead at the scene, the CHP reported. His name was withheld, pending notification of his relatives.
The crash closed three lanes of the freeway while the CHP conducted its investigation of the crash. The motorist remained at the scene and was interviewed.
