The death toll from the winter storm that hit large parts of the continental United States has risen to at least 31.
- Buffalo, N.Y., has been one of the hardest-hit locations in the country, with at least 12 people confirmed dead.
- The National Weather Service said that 43 inches of snow had fallen at Buffalo’s airport as yesterday morning.
- The storm has sent temperatures well below freezing in much of the country.
