Woman Loses Vision Due To Skin-Whitening Creams

According to a report, a Minnesota woman may have permanently lost her peripheral vision as a result of exposure to high quantities of mercury in cosmetic products.

Fox News Digital was informed by Dr. Eric Lavonas, a toxicologist at Rocky Mountain Poison and Drug Safety in Denver, Colorado, and a representative of the American College of Emergency Physicians that

"Mercury poisoning from skin-whitening creams can be very serious, as it causes nervous system damage that can be permanent."
"The best way to protect yourself is to stick to clearly labeled and FDA-approved creams and cosmetics," he continued.

Skin-whitening lotions frequently contain mercury to prevent the production of melanin in the skin.
