Federal authorities have busted a massive theft ring that stole and sold millions of dollars' worth of catalytic converters.
- 21 people in five states were arrested, with 32 search warrants executed in nine states.
- The ring was based out of Sacramento, CA - where three brothers would buy the stolen converters and ship them to New Jersey for processing.
- Catalytic converters are a popular target for thieves because they contain precious metals such as platinum, palladium, or rhodium. Some can sell for up to $1,000 on the black market.
