SANTA ANA (CNS) - The number of COVID-positive patients in Orange County hospitals has declined by 17 people to 116, according to the latest state figures released Saturday.
Of those patients, 20 were being treated in intensive care, up from 15 the previous day.
The latest numbers come two days after the county reported nine more deaths linked to the virus and 1,495 new cases over the previous week, bringing its cumulative totals to 669,278 cases and 7,459 fatalities since the pandemic began.
The Orange County Health Care Agency provides coronavirus updates every Thursday.
The county has 26% of its ICU beds available. Officials grow concerned that percentage drops below 20%.
The county's test positivity rate went from 6.1% last week to 6.4%, with the statistic declining from 6.5% to 6.4% in the health equity quartile, which measures the communities hardest hit by the pandemic. The daily case rate per 100,000 dropped from 7.4 to 7.2 on seven-day average with seven-day lag, and from 7.8 to 7.6 in the adjusted daily case rate per 100,000 on a seven-day average with a seven-day lag.
