After a federal appeals court ruled on Wednesday that the Obama administration had created the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals DACA program unlawfully, President Biden criticized the ruling.
The Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals' three-judge panel concluded on Wednesday that the Obama administration lacked the authority to carry out the DACA program. The court decided against overturning it, citing the possibility that DACA recipients would still be entitled to legal protections.
"I am disappointed in today's Fifth Circuit decision holding that DACA is unlawful. The court’s stay provides a temporary reprieve for DACA recipients, but one thing remains clear: the lives of Dreamers remain in limbo," Biden said.
